How do I get a human resources manager job in Pittsburgh?
Pittsburgh's strongest hiring comes from its large healthcare systems, regional banks and insurance firms, universities, and reviving manufacturing and tech employers. Candidates who stand out here typically bring experience in employee relations, HRIS administration, or benefits management paired with familiarity with unionized or highly regulated environments. Networking through Pittsburgh SHRM chapter events and targeting employers in Oakland and the Downtown Business District accelerates the search considerably.

Pittsburgh's employer mix skews heavily toward large healthcare networks, financial institutions, and a growing cluster of technology and advanced manufacturing firms.
Are there remote human resources manager jobs in Pittsburgh?
Yes, though remote availability depends on the function, since strategic and generalist HR roles often allow remote or hybrid work, while benefits administration and employee relations work can as well, but on-site plant or clinic HR rarely does. About 72% of human resources manager openings tied to Pittsburgh are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Compensation analytics, HRIS management, and talent acquisition coordination tend to be the most remote-compatible specialties in the Pittsburgh market.
How can I get a human resources manager job in Pittsburgh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Pittsburgh is through an HR coordinator or HR generalist role at one of the city's large healthcare systems or university administrations, which regularly hire early-career professionals and promote from within. Gaining exposure to HRIS platforms and benefits administration in those environments builds the operational foundation that Pittsburgh employers expect at the manager level. Pursuing SHRM-CP certification while in a coordinator role signals readiness and is recognized locally.
