Laboratory Supervisor Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a laboratory supervisor in Missouri?
The most direct path is earning a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or a related discipline, then obtaining certification through the ASCP Board of Certification, which Missouri clinical employers treat as the standard credential for supervisory roles. Missouri does not issue a separate state laboratory director license for supervisors below the director level, so ASCP certification combined with progressive bench experience is what qualifies candidates. Many Missouri hospital systems also expect candidates to meet CLIA-defined personnel qualifications for high-complexity testing supervisors before advancing to a supervisory title.
How much do laboratory supervisors make in Missouri?
Laboratory supervisors in Missouri earn a median of about $129,410 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $65,650 for the lowest 10% to over $229,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire laboratory supervisors in Missouri?
Missouri laboratory supervisor roles are posted by University of Missouri Health Care, Eurofins, and NKC Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Missouri's concentration of large academic medical centers, regional hospital networks, and pharmaceutical manufacturers means supervisory openings appear consistently across both clinical and industrial laboratory settings.
Which Missouri cities have the most laboratory supervisor jobs?
Columbia, St. Louis, and Saint Charles lead Missouri in laboratory supervisor openings. St. Louis drives the largest share of postings through its academic medical centers and pharmaceutical corridor, Kansas City follows with major health systems and diagnostics employers, and Columbia's University of Missouri Health Care anchors demand in mid-Missouri for clinical and research laboratory leadership roles.
How can I get hired as a laboratory supervisor in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a lead medical laboratory scientist or senior technician role at a Missouri hospital system before stepping into formal supervisory responsibility. BJC HealthCare and MU Health Care both run structured new-graduate programs that place candidates in clinical laboratory roles with defined advancement tracks. Earning ASCP certification early and volunteering for shift lead or quality improvement duties signals supervisory readiness to hiring managers. Candidates coming from adjacent roles such as laboratory coordinator, quality assurance technician, or research associate are frequently considered for junior supervisory positions at Missouri's contract and reference laboratory operations.
Where can I find and apply to laboratory supervisor jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to laboratory supervisor jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings across clinical, pharmaceutical, and research settings. Search the listings to find roles that match your specialty and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
