Tips for Your Major Account Executive Job Search
Quantify your book of business clearly
Hiring managers for major account roles want to see your average deal size, annual revenue managed, and contract length. Pull those numbers from your CRM history before you write a single bullet on your resume.
Align your resume to the right tier
Major account roles vary widely from mid-market to global strategic. Check whether the listing references annual contract value thresholds or named account counts, then mirror that language and scale in your resume and cover letter.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists major account executive openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target companies mid-sales-cycle launch
Companies posting major account roles often just landed a new vertical or lost a key rep. Research recent product launches, funding rounds, or leadership changes before your interview so you can speak directly to their growth context.
Prepare a territory plan as your leave-behind
A concise 30-60-90 day territory plan tailored to the company's named accounts signals you've done your homework. Bring it to the final-round interview and walk through how you'd prioritize accounts in the first quarter.
Negotiate beyond base salary from the start
Major account executive comp packages often include quota relief periods, accelerators, and car or phone allowances that vary significantly. Ask for the full OTE structure and any ramp provisions in writing before you accept an offer.
Major Account Executive Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most major account executives?
The companies hiring the most major account executives right now include T-Mobile, Zscaler, and ADP, with the largest share of openings in Oregon, Texas, and Washington, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand is particularly strong in enterprise software, telecommunications, and cybersecurity verticals.
How many major account executive jobs are remote?
About 65% of major account executive openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the shift toward virtual enterprise selling. Roles focused on SaaS platforms and cloud services tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while positions tied to hardware or on-site managed services typically require regular travel to named accounts.
How do you become a major account executive?
Most major account executives start in inside sales or as a mid-market account executive, building a record of consistent quota attainment before moving into larger territory ownership. From there, developing skills in multi-threaded deal management, executive engagement, and long-cycle pipeline discipline positions you for named account roles. Many also pursue certifications in sales methodologies like MEDDIC or Challenger to stand out for competitive openings.
Can you get hired as a major account executive without prior experience in the role?
Breaking into a major account executive role without the exact title is possible if you can demonstrate high-value deal experience from an adjacent position. Mid-market reps who have closed large net-new contracts, managed multi-stakeholder evaluations, or carried large quota numbers relative to their peers are strong candidates. Tailoring your resume to highlight deal complexity and average contract value matters more than matching a specific title.
What does the major account executive interview process look like?
The process typically runs four to six rounds, starting with a recruiter screen focused on quota history and deal size, followed by a hiring manager conversation about territory strategy and account management approach. Later rounds often include a panel with sales leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, and many companies require a final-round presentation where you walk through a mock territory or account plan.
Where can I find and apply to major account executive jobs?
You can find and apply to major account executive jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your background, industry focus, and account size preferences, then apply directly to each listing.
