Marketing Intern Jobs in Iowa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing intern in Iowa?
Marketing internships in Iowa do not require a state-issued license or credential. Most employers look for candidates who are actively enrolled in or have recently completed a bachelor's program in marketing, communications, advertising, or business at an Iowa institution such as the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, or Drake University. Building a portfolio of class projects, campus organization campaigns, or freelance work strengthens a candidacy considerably.
Which companies hire marketing interns in Iowa?
Iowa marketing intern roles are posted by Hy-Vee, Hills Bank and Trust Company, and ATHENE and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Iowa's mix of corporate headquarters in financial services, regional grocery and retail chains, and large healthcare systems creates a consistent pipeline of intern openings across industries.
Which Iowa cities have the most marketing intern jobs?
West Des Moines, Ames, and Hills have the most marketing intern openings in Iowa. Des Moines drives the largest share of listings because it is home to major corporate headquarters in insurance, banking, and retail, while Cedar Rapids and Iowa City benefit from regional employers and university-affiliated organizations that recruit interns for communications and digital roles.
Are there remote marketing intern jobs in Iowa?
Yes, and more than most fields, because marketing work is largely digital and project-based. About 50% of marketing intern openings tied to Iowa are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how widely Iowa employers have adopted flexible work for desk-based roles. Content creation, social media management, and email marketing tasks are the most likely to be performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a marketing intern in Iowa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying through formal university internship programs tied to large Iowa employers such as Principal Financial Group, Hy-Vee, or UnityPoint Health, which recruit directly from Iowa campuses and do not require prior professional experience. Contributing to student-run marketing clubs, managing social media for a campus organization, or completing a digital marketing certification builds the portfolio evidence that Iowa recruiters look for when reviewing candidates from new-graduate pools.
