Talent Acquisition Intern Jobs in Iowa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a talent acquisition intern in Iowa?
Talent acquisition internships in Iowa do not require a state-issued license. Most candidates are current college students or recent graduates pursuing degrees in human resources, business administration, or organizational psychology at Iowa schools like the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, or Drake University. Employers typically look for relevant coursework in recruiting or HR fundamentals, along with strong communication skills and basic familiarity with recruiting tools or HR software.
Which companies hire talent acquisition interns in Iowa?
Companies currently hiring talent acquisition interns in Iowa include MercyOne, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Casey's, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Iowa's mix of large financial services firms, regional healthcare systems, and consumer-facing employers means intern openings appear across a wide range of industries throughout the year.
Which Iowa cities have the most talent acquisition intern jobs?
The Iowa cities with the most talent acquisition intern openings are Des Moines, Ankeny, and West Des Moines. Des Moines dominates as the state's corporate and financial services hub, drawing HR intern demand from insurance carriers, banks, and retail headquarters, while Cedar Rapids and Iowa City contribute openings from manufacturing employers and major university and healthcare institutions anchored in those markets.
Are there remote talent acquisition intern jobs in Iowa?
Yes, and more than most fields, since talent acquisition work is primarily phone, email, and software-based and translates well to remote settings. About 71% of talent acquisition intern openings tied to Iowa are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly distributed recruiting coordination and candidate sourcing work has become. Sourcing, screening, and scheduling tasks are the functions most likely to be fully remote.
How can I get hired as a talent acquisition intern in Iowa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying through formal internship programs run by large Iowa employers, which are designed for students with limited prior HR experience. Principal Financial Group, Hy-Vee, and regional healthcare systems like UnityPoint Health and MercyOne post structured summer internships and co-op roles that require only active enrollment and relevant coursework. Completing the SHRM Student Membership program or an HRCI-aligned course gives candidates a credential edge, and lateral roles such as administrative assistant or campus ambassador roles at Iowa universities often serve as a natural bridge into a first recruiting internship.
Where can I find and apply to talent acquisition intern jobs in Iowa?
You can find and apply to talent acquisition intern jobs in Iowa on Migrate Mate, which lists current Iowa openings in one place. Search the roles that match your availability, location preference, and program focus, then apply directly to the ones that fit your situation.
