Talent Acquisition Intern Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a talent acquisition intern in Virginia?
The most direct path is enrollment in a bachelor's program in human resources, business administration, or organizational psychology at a Virginia university, as most employers require active student status. Virginia does not require a state license to work in talent acquisition, so candidates compete on education, relevant coursework in staffing or workforce planning, and any prior internship or HR assistant experience. A Society for Human Resource Management student membership or SHRM-CP coursework adds a competitive edge.
Which companies hire talent acquisition interns in Virginia?
Virginia talent acquisition intern roles are posted by Amazon, Smithfield Foods, and Appian and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Virginia's concentration of defense contractors, federal consulting firms, and large health systems means many of these employers run structured internship cohorts that include sourcing, screening, and onboarding rotations.
Which Virginia cities have the most talent acquisition intern jobs?
Richmond, Arlington, and McLean are the Virginia cities with the most talent acquisition intern openings. Northern Virginia dominates because of its dense cluster of federal contractors and technology employers headquartered in the corridor between Tysons and Arlington, while Richmond draws openings from financial services firms and state government agencies, and Hampton Roads contributes through its military-connected defense and logistics employers.
Are there remote talent acquisition intern jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and more than most fields, because talent acquisition work is largely phone- and computer-based, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 65% of talent acquisition intern openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have accepted distributed recruiting teams. Sourcing, candidate outreach, and scheduling tasks tend to be the most remote-friendly parts of the role.
How can I get hired as a talent acquisition intern in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying directly to structured internship programs at large Virginia employers like Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, or Inova Health System, which regularly recruit students with no prior HR experience. Adjacent roles such as HR coordinator assistant, administrative assistant in a people operations team, or campus ambassador positions at Virginia universities serve as practical on-ramps. A completed SHRM student chapter project, a sourcing simulation, or volunteer recruiting work for a campus organization can substitute for formal work history when experience is thin.
Where can I find and apply to talent acquisition intern jobs in Virginia?
You can find and apply to talent acquisition intern jobs in Virginia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Virginia openings updated regularly. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match your schedule, location preference, and experience level.
