JOB DESCRIPTION
Senior Network Administrator
Location: Beverly, MA (Onsite with possibility of hybrid)
Department: Information Technology

Axcelis Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. This critical role will require advanced network administration to monitor, design, implement, and protect our enterprise infrastructure. This position will be instrumental in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our network environment—spanning architecture, operations, and incident response.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and optimize network performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, Wireless, VPN, Data Center).
- Configuration and troubleshooting of network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and OT network devices.
- Develop and maintain network diagrams, documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies.
- Oversee network hardware/software upgrades and lifecycle management.
- Identify and mitigate network security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Administer firewalls (Fortinet preferred), NAC, SIEM, and VPN solutions.
- Monitor network traffic and logs for anomalies and threats.
- Collaborate closely with other IT teams (Systems, Applications, DevOps) to ensure secure integration of new technologies and services.
- Mentor junior administrators and serve as a subject matter expert.
- Lead strategic planning and technical discussions for network initiatives.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Some travel might be needed with mergers and acquisitions.
Qualifications
Required:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in network administration.
- Expertise in enterprise network design, implementation, and management.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, 802.1X, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and other network protocols.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, NAC.
- Proficiency in diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or related field.
- Relevant industry certifications (Aruba/HPE, CCNA/CCNP, CISSP, CompTIA).
- Experience with cloud networking and security in Azure/AWS.
- Experience with Fortinet firewalls, Aruba/HPE Airwave, Aruba/HPE ClearPass, and SIEM.

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE
$92,225.60 - $138,338.40
This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.
Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as you develop within the role.
Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular employees working 20+ hours a week).
