New Business Development Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a new business development in Rhode Island?
Most new business development roles in Rhode Island require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline, though no state-issued license is required for the role itself. Employers across Providence's financial services sector and healthcare anchors such as Lifespan and Care New England typically expect a demonstrated sales record alongside the degree. Professionals moving into healthcare or defense-adjacent business development sometimes strengthen their candidacy with industry-specific certifications recognized in those sectors.
Which companies hire new business developments in Rhode Island?
Companies currently hiring new business developments in Rhode Island include Care New England Health System, Prime Healthcare Services, and CVS Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of insurance carriers, regional health systems, and defense contractors means demand is especially active among employers with longer enterprise sales cycles.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most new business development jobs?
Providence, Cranston, and Woonsocket account for the highest concentration of new business development openings in Rhode Island. Providence anchors the market as the state's commercial and healthcare hub, while Warwick and Cranston draw demand from corporate office parks, regional insurers, and proximity to T.F. Green Airport, which supports the travel-heavy nature of many business development roles.
Are there remote new business development jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than many fields, since new business development is fundamentally a relationship and communication role that often doesn't require a fixed office. About 33% of new business development openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader adoption across industries. The prospecting, proposal-writing, and pipeline-management portions of the role translate most cleanly to fully remote arrangements, while enterprise account meetings often remain in person.
How can I get hired as a new business development in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a sales development representative or inside sales role, where employers such as regional insurance companies and Providence-based technology firms regularly bring on early-career candidates who demonstrate strong communication skills. Lifespan and other large Rhode Island health systems sometimes post associate business development coordinator roles that do not require prior sales experience. A portfolio of outreach samples or a demonstrated record in a customer-facing role, such as account management or retail leadership, meaningfully strengthens an application at this level.
Where can I find and apply to new business development jobs in Rhode Island?
