New Business Development Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a new business development in New Jersey?
Most new business development roles in New Jersey require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, or a related field, though no state-issued license is required for the role itself. Employers in New Jersey's pharmaceutical corridor and financial services sector typically prioritize candidates with demonstrated B2B sales experience or industry-specific knowledge. Building familiarity with the state's dominant sectors, particularly life sciences and technology services, strengthens your candidacy significantly.
Which companies hire new business developments in New Jersey?
Employers hiring new business developments in New Jersey right now include Accenture, MassMutual, and Englewood Lab, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and logistics companies makes it one of the more active states for business development hiring in the Northeast.
Which New Jersey cities have the most new business development jobs?
The cities with the most new business development openings in New Jersey are New Jersey, Avenel, and Iselin. This distribution reflects Newark's position as the state's primary commercial hub and transportation gateway, while Princeton and Parsippany draw openings from the pharmaceutical and professional services companies that have long-established regional offices there.
Are there remote new business development jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and they're more common than in many fields, since new business development work is largely relationship-driven and phone or video-based prospecting translates well to remote settings. About 50% of new business development openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting employer flexibility in the sector. Client-facing roles with local territory management are most likely to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a new business development in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an inside sales or sales development representative role, which large New Jersey employers in pharmaceuticals, insurance, and technology services use as a direct pipeline into business development. Companies like Cognizant and Prudential Financial run associate and rotational programs that accept candidates without prior sales experience. Building a record of outbound activity, earning a HubSpot or Salesforce certification, and targeting New Jersey's mid-size technology and life sciences firms, which are more likely to invest in developing junior talent, improves your chances considerably.
Where can I find and apply to new business development jobs in New Jersey?
