New Business Development Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a new business development in Illinois?
Most new business development roles in Illinois require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline, and no state-issued license applies to the role itself. Employers typically look for a demonstrated ability to build client relationships and generate revenue. Gaining experience in inside sales, account coordination, or marketing at an Illinois company provides a strong foundation, and earning a recognized credential such as a Certified Professional Sales Person designation can strengthen a candidate's profile.
Which companies hire new business developments in Illinois?
Employers hiring new business developments in Illinois right now include Red Circle, genesisONE, and Inner Valor, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major regional employers in financial services, technology, and healthcare creates steady, year-round demand for business development professionals.
Which Illinois cities have the most new business development jobs?
Chicago, Naperville, and Northbrook have the most new business development openings in Illinois. Chicago dominates because it is home to a dense cluster of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and professional services firms that continuously expand client portfolios, while suburban hubs like Naperville attract mid-market technology and consulting companies that also maintain active business development teams.
Are there remote new business development jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than many fields, since new business development work centers on communication, relationship management, and strategy rather than a fixed physical location. About 33% of new business development openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of distributed sales and partnerships teams. Roles focused on outbound prospecting, strategic alliances, and enterprise account development are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a new business development in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in an inside sales representative or sales development representative role, which large Illinois employers like CDW, Salesforce, and Aon use as a direct pipeline into business development. These companies run formal new-hire training programs that teach prospecting, CRM use, and consultative selling. Completing a Certified Professional Sales Person credential or building a portfolio of quantified results from internships or campus sales competitions gives candidates a concrete edge when competing for junior openings.
Where can I find and apply to new business development jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to new business development jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Illinois employers. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and location preferences, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
