Performs nursing duties for Chemical Dependency and Medical Rehabilitation Patients.
How does it get done?
Incumbent will treat and educate patients and the public about various medical conditions, as well as provide emotional support to patients and their families. Administer direct patient / client care by implementing accepted nursing practices and institutional policies and procedures. Complete all nursing assessments within 24 hours. Assess patient / client per shift and report patient / client status at each shift change. Communicate to physician patient / client progress, change in condition or any problems / concerns timely and efficiently.

Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirement. Employment is subject to post offer pre-employment criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and must complete a Defensive Driving Course.
Working Conditions
Work is of medium to heavy demand. Walking and standing may be required for most of the time on duty. Moderate lifting of patients with assistance is essential. Frequent reaching and handling and fingering of instruments and equipment is required. Visual and auditory acuity s essential to perform designated duties. Hours of work may be variable to meet the demands of the institution. May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors. May be in contact with hazardous and infectious agents where judgment as to necessary precautions is essential. May be exposed to various degrees of emotional stress. This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations requiring crisis intervention may be required.
