Job Summary: The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day production activities within the hot rolling and scalping departments, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in the hot rolling processes and equipment, and a commitment to continuous improvement…both within hot rolling and cross department initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Safety Management
- Championing a strong culture of following plant safety standards
- Conduct audits and correct non-compliant behaviors and situations
- Quality Management
- Work hand in hand with department and site level quality team
- Participate and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Production Management
- Direct and coordinate all operations to meet production targets
- Monitor process parameters and KPIs to optimize process
- Ensure compliance with metallurgical and customer specifications
- Leadership
- Supervise and mentor production foremen and shopfloor employees
- Develop training programs and KPIs to enhance employee skills
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence
- Report out regular updates to Senior Management
- Operational Efficiency
- Identify and implement lean manufacturing processes where needed
- Develop tools to determine mill availability and capacities
- Work hand in hand with maintenance department to prioritize jobs and timeframes to complete them
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline, required
- 7+ years of experience in aluminum rolling operations, required
- At least 3 years of experience in leadership roles, required
- Strong knowledge of hot rolling processes and mill equipment, required
- Proven track record in safety, quality, and process optimization, required
- Excellent leadership, communications, and problem-solving skills, required
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, required
- Ability to pass pre-employment testing under specific area of discipline, required
- Willingness to learn, required
- Ability to adapt to a new environment, required
