Operations Technician Jobs in Wyoming: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a operations technician in Wyoming?
The most direct path is completing an associate degree or technical certificate in process technology, industrial instrumentation, or a related discipline through a Wyoming community college such as Casper College or Western Wyoming Community College. Wyoming does not require a state-issued license specific to the operations technician title, but employers in the energy and utilities sectors expect OSHA safety credentials and may require DOT physical certification for field roles. Candidates who complete a hands-on technical program and earn an OSHA certification are consistently competitive in Wyoming listings.
Which companies hire operations technicians in Wyoming?
Employers hiring operations technicians in Wyoming right now include State of Wyoming, Lowe's Home Improvement, and Danos, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Wyoming's energy-heavy economy means the largest and most consistent demand comes from oil and gas producers, pipeline operators, and regulated utilities with permanent Wyoming operations.
Which Wyoming cities have the most operations technician jobs?
Cheyenne, Casper, and Jackson account for the most operations technician openings in Wyoming. Casper and Gillette are the centers of the state's oil, gas, and coal extraction activity, which drives continuous demand for field and facility technicians, while Cheyenne supports a broader mix of utility, industrial, and state infrastructure employers.
Are there remote operations technician jobs in Wyoming?
Yes, but they're rare. Operations technician work is fundamentally hands-on, requiring physical presence at wells, processing facilities, or plant equipment, so remote arrangements are the exception rather than the norm. About 16% of operations technician openings tied to Wyoming are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to be in data review, SCADA monitoring, or technical coordination roles rather than direct field work.
How can I get hired as a operations technician in Wyoming with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a process technology or industrial instrumentation program at Casper College or Western Wyoming Community College, both of which have relationships with regional energy employers and place graduates into entry-level technician roles. Large Wyoming operators and pipeline companies regularly hire roustabouts, equipment operators, and plant helpers as stepping-stone positions that build toward operations technician titles. Earning an OSHA 10 certification before applying signals site-readiness and gives candidates without field hours a concrete credential that Wyoming hiring managers recognize.
Where can I find and apply to operations technician jobs in Wyoming?
You can find and apply to operations technician jobs in Wyoming on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings for roles that match your experience and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
