Personal Banker Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a personal banker in New Jersey?
Most New Jersey personal banker roles require at minimum a high school diploma, though an associate or bachelor's degree in business or finance strengthens your candidacy. The most important credential is a FINRA securities license, typically the Series 6 for investment products or Series 7 for broader securities. New Jersey does not impose a separate state-level banking license for this role, but many employers require FINRA registration to be completed within your first few months of hire.
Which companies hire personal bankers in New Jersey?
Employers hiring personal bankers in New Jersey right now include PNC Financial Services, Wells Fargo, and OceanFirst Bank, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's dense suburban branch network and proximity to the New York City financial corridor means both national bank brands and regional community banks maintain active personal banker headcount across the state year-round.
Which New Jersey cities have the most personal banker jobs?
Nutley, Warren, and Manasquan consistently post the most personal banker openings in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City drive volume through their large commuter populations and the regional headquarters of major financial institutions, while Cherry Hill serves as a key retail banking hub for the dense suburban corridor stretching from the Philadelphia metro into South Jersey.
Are there remote personal banker jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, but they're rare. Personal banker work is fundamentally branch-based and client-facing, so fully remote positions are uncommon. About 0% of personal banker openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to concentrate in phone-based or digital banking support roles rather than traditional branch positions.
How can I get hired as a personal banker in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to teller or customer service representative roles at New Jersey branch locations of large retail banks, which routinely promote internally into personal banker positions. TD Bank and PNC both run structured associate development programs in their New Jersey markets for candidates new to financial services. Earning a FINRA Series 6 license before applying, even without employer sponsorship, signals readiness and gives you a concrete edge over other entry-level candidates.
Where can I find and apply to personal banker jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to personal banker jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
