There is no state-issued license or Kansas-specific credential required for this role. Kansas employers, particularly those in aerospace, technology, and utilities, typically look for candidates with hands-on experience in product positioning, content development, or market research, often gained through internships or adjacent roles in marketing coordination or sales enablement.
How much do product marketing specialists make in Kansas?
Product marketing specialists in Kansas earn a median of about $70,430 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $38,540 for the lowest 10% to over $128,650 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.

Which Kansas cities have the most product marketing specialist jobs?
Overland Park, Wichita, and Olathe account for the largest share of product marketing specialist openings in Kansas. Overland Park and the Kansas City metro drive volume through their concentration of technology companies, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters, while Wichita contributes openings tied to its aerospace manufacturing base and the regional corporate offices that support it.

The most realistic entry path is a marketing coordinator or junior content role at a mid-size Kansas company, where you can build go-to-market exposure before moving into a specialist title. Garmin and Evergy periodically bring on marketing associates and rotational program participants out of Kansas universities. A portfolio that demonstrates product messaging work, even from class projects or freelance assignments, carries more weight than certifications alone. Lateral moves from sales operations, customer success, or demand generation are also common bridges into the role.
