Professional Services Consultant Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a professional services consultant in California?
Most professional services consultant roles in California require a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field, with employers in technology and management consulting favoring candidates who also hold certifications such as PMP, Salesforce Administrator, or AWS Solutions Architect. California does not issue a state-specific license for this role, so credentials and a portfolio of client project work carry the most weight during hiring.
How much do professional services consultants make in California?
Professional services consultants in California earn a median of about $101,460 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,360 for the lowest 10% to over $174,970 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire professional services consultants in California?
Employers hiring professional services consultants in California right now include Amazon Web Services, Pendo, and Ripple, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. California's density of enterprise technology headquarters and large consulting firm offices means openings appear consistently across the state year-round.
Which California cities have the most professional services consultant jobs?
Mountain View, San Francisco, and California have the most professional services consultant openings in California. San Francisco and San Jose draw the heaviest volume because of the concentration of enterprise software companies and consulting firm regional offices headquartered there, while Los Angeles generates openings through its large financial services, media, and healthcare consulting practices.
Are there remote professional services consultant jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields, since much of the work involves analysis, client calls, and documentation that translates well to remote settings. About 80% of professional services consultant openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly the profession adopted flexible arrangements. Roles focused on strategy, cloud advisory, and program management tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while implementation and on-site delivery roles remain largely in person.
How can I get hired as a professional services consultant in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate or junior consultant program at a large California-based firm or technology company. Deloitte, Accenture, and Salesforce all run structured new-graduate programs in California that place candidates without consulting experience into client delivery teams. Lateral moves from roles such as business analyst, technical account manager, or customer success associate are common entry points, and earning a platform certification like Salesforce Administrator or PMP significantly improves your chances of clearing the initial screen.
Where can I find and apply to professional services consultant jobs in California?
You can find and apply to professional services consultant jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across industries and experience levels. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly from the listing.
