Overview
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) invites applications for a full-time tenured faculty position at the rank of Full Professor at Harvard Medical School (HMS). We seek an internationally recognized scientist with an outstanding record of scholarship in any aspect of cancer biology, including but not limited to molecular and cellular biology, systems biology, immunology, chemical biology, structural biology, metabolism, genomics, proteomics and computational biology. Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. We are united in our mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS, and related diseases. We strive to create an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment where we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all backgrounds, and design programs to promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.
The successful candidate is expected to maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program, provide scientific leadership within the department, and contribute to the training of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and medical/health professions students. They should contribute to the educational mission at HMS by teaching graduate and/or medical students, and participate in departmental and institutional service at DFCI and HMS.
Candidates should have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD, an accomplished record of research productivity, a sustained history of extramural research funding, national and international reputation, and a commitment to mentoring and training the next generation of scientists. Ideally, the candidate will also have experience in building and leading multidisciplinary research teams and collaborating with translational programs and/or industry partners.
The candidate will be housed at DFCI and will have an academic appointment at HMS in one of the following departments: Cell Biology, Immunology, Systems Biology, or Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology. DFCI strongly encourages team science, entrepreneurship and mentorship of scientists and physicians from a variety of backgrounds.
