Project Accountant Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project accountant in New Hampshire?
Most project accountant roles in New Hampshire require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and experience with job-cost or project-based accounting. Candidates who pursue CPA licensure through the New Hampshire Board of Accountancy gain a clear hiring edge, particularly in defense contracting and public-sector capital programs. Employers in construction and infrastructure often prioritize hands-on experience with cost coding and subcontractor billing over formal certification alone.
Which companies hire project accountants in New Hampshire?
Companies currently hiring project accountants in New Hampshire include Elm Grove Companies, City of Manchester, NH, and Hannaford, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Hampshire's defense, construction, and utility sectors consistently generate the most sustained project accountant demand across the state.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most project accountant jobs?
Manchester, Concord, and Portsmouth have the most project accountant openings in New Hampshire. Manchester and Nashua lead because they anchor the state's largest concentration of defense contractors, engineering firms, and commercial construction activity, while Concord draws openings from state government capital programs and regional infrastructure employers headquartered near the statehouse.
Are there remote project accountant jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, and more than many finance roles allow, since project accounting involves analytical and reporting work that translates well to remote settings. About 43% of project accountant openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting employer flexibility on the financial reporting side. Budget forecasting, invoice review, and cost variance analysis are the tasks most commonly performed off-site.
How can I get hired as a project accountant in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as an accounts payable specialist or staff accountant at a New Hampshire construction or defense firm, then transitioning into project cost tracking responsibilities. Large employers like BAE Systems and regional construction groups often bring on accounting associates or new graduates for job-cost support roles that build direct project accounting experience. Gaining exposure to Sage 300 or Viewpoint and pursuing the CPA track through the New Hampshire Board of Accountancy strengthens candidacy significantly.
Where can I find and apply to project accountant jobs in New Hampshire?
You can find and apply to project accountant jobs in New Hampshire on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly without any additional steps required.
