Tax Accountant Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax accountant in New Hampshire?
To work as a licensed CPA in New Hampshire you must pass the Uniform CPA Examination, complete a bachelor's degree with the required accounting credit hours, and fulfill the experience requirement overseen by the New Hampshire Board of Accountancy. Once licensed, your CPA credential satisfies the primary qualification most New Hampshire employers require for tax accountant roles. Candidates without a CPA license can enter the field as accounting associates while completing their exam requirements.
How much do tax accountants make in New Hampshire?
Tax accountants in New Hampshire earn a median of about $61,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,100 for the lowest 10% to over $97,020 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax accountants in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire tax accountant roles are posted by C&S Wholesale Grocers, CBIZ, and The Swanson and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Hampshire's concentration of financial services firms, regional hospitals, and defense manufacturers creates consistent demand across both in-house corporate tax teams and public accounting practices.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most tax accountant jobs?
Manchester, Merrimack, and Keene have the most tax accountant openings in New Hampshire. Manchester leads as the state's largest commercial and financial center, Concord draws hiring from state government agencies and regional accounting firms, and Nashua benefits from its dense concentration of technology and advanced manufacturing employers that maintain dedicated in-house tax functions.
Are there remote tax accountant jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 30% of tax accountant openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and document-driven nature of the work. Tax compliance, research, and return preparation roles are the most commonly offered remotely, while roles requiring regular client meetings or access to on-site financial systems tend to remain in-person.
How can I get hired as a tax accountant in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a staff accountant or tax associate role at a regional public accounting firm in Manchester or Concord, where firms routinely hire new graduates and train them through busy season. Large New Hampshire employers in financial services and healthcare also bring on accounting associates who rotate through tax functions. Sitting for the CPA exam while employed gives candidates a clear edge, and a degree from a New Hampshire university with active employer recruiting relationships shortens the path considerably.
Where can I find and apply to tax accountant jobs in New Hampshire?
You can find and apply to tax accountant jobs in New Hampshire on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find the roles that match your background and goals, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
