Project Architect Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project architect in Indiana?
Becoming a project architect in Indiana requires earning a professional architecture degree from an NAAB-accredited program, completing the Architectural Experience Program hours, and passing the Architect Registration Examination. Licensure is issued through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, which oversees registration for architects practicing in the state. Most Indiana firms also expect candidates to have meaningful project management experience before advancing to the project architect title.
Which companies hire project architects in Indiana?
Indiana project architect roles are posted by Jobot, Woolpert, and DesignGroup and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indiana's design and construction sector includes a range of architecture firms, healthcare systems, and university facilities departments that hire project architects on a recurring basis.
Which Indiana cities have the most project architect jobs?
Indianapolis, Granger, and Evansville have the most project architect openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because it anchors most of the state's large architecture firms, active commercial development, and major healthcare and institutional clients, while Fort Wayne and Bloomington generate steady demand through regional growth, university construction, and expanding healthcare campuses.
Are there remote project architect jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're limited. Project architect work is heavily tied to site visits, consultant coordination, and client meetings that require a physical presence, so fully remote roles are uncommon. About 40% of project architect openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those arrangements typically apply to design and documentation phases rather than construction administration.
How can I get hired as a project architect in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is starting as an architectural intern or project designer at a mid-size Indiana firm, where exposure to full project lifecycles moves quickly. Firms like CSO Architects and Ratio Design in Indianapolis have historically brought on new graduates and developed them toward licensure. Completing your AXP hours, pursuing ARE exams while working, and building a portfolio with Indiana project types such as healthcare or institutional work will set you apart when applying for your first project architect role.
Where can I find and apply to project architect jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to project architect jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from Indiana employers. Search the roles that fit your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that match.
