Position Summary

Albatross is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the Project Manager and field leadership on TxDOT and municipal traffic signal and roadway electrical projects. This position coordinates the project information, procurement, documentation, cost support and closeout work that keeps projects moving from award through completion.

This is a hands-on project support role for someone who understands construction documents, follows details through completion and communicates effectively with field crews, public agencies, engineers, inspectors, vendors and subcontractors. The role offers the opportunity to grow into broader project-management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and maintain a working knowledge of plans, specifications, addenda, contracts and applicable TxDOT or municipal requirements.
• Maintain current logs for submittals, requests for information, drawings, specifications, permits, inspections, materials and project closeout.
• Coordinate material procurement and track approvals, fabrication, long-lead items, delivery dates, shortages and items needed for upcoming work.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs, scope review, vendor and subcontractor quotations, and identification of scope gaps or constructability concerns.
• Support project schedules, weekly look-ahead planning, utility-line locates and coordination of work with field leadership.
• Prepare progress reports and maintain supporting records for installed quantities, customer billing and internal job-cost review.
• Develop change-order support by documenting added or revised scope, collecting quotations, tracking related costs and purchase orders, and maintaining approval status.
• Coordinate with owners, public agencies, engineers, inspectors, utility companies, vendors, subcontractors and field personnel to resolve open items.
• Conduct jobsite walks to verify progress, identify coordination needs and support project safety and quality requirements.
• Maintain punch-list records and assemble required project closeout documentation.

Qualifications

• At least three years of relevant experience in construction project engineering, project coordination, assistant project management or a comparable role.
• Experience with traffic signals, roadway electrical work, heavy civil construction, utilities or public infrastructure; TxDOT or municipal experience is strongly preferred.
• Degree in construction management, engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant field-construction experience.
• Ability to read and interpret civil and electrical construction plans, specifications and project requirements.
• Strong organization, follow-through, written communication and attention to project documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate professionally with field personnel, customers, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors and public-agency representatives.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard business software; experience with Bluebeam, Procore or comparable construction technology is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position includes office work and regular visits to active construction sites. The employee must be able to work around roadway construction operations, walk over uneven ground, climb stairs or ladders when necessary, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, stand or walk for extended periods and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Consistent and timely attendance is required.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
