Which companies hire project development managers in Indiana?

Indiana's concentration of energy utilities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and heavy industrial firms means demand for this role is distributed across multiple sectors rather than a single dominant industry.
Which Indiana cities have the most project development manager jobs?
Indianapolis, Indiana, and Greenwood have the most project development manager openings in Indiana. Indianapolis drives the largest share of demand as the state capital and home to major corporate headquarters across energy, life sciences, and infrastructure, while Fort Wayne and Evansville contribute openings tied to regional manufacturing, utilities, and public works projects anchored by large employers in those metros.
Are there remote project development manager jobs in Indiana?
Yes, and more than some project roles allow, since planning, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination work can often be done off-site, even if site visits are still required at key milestones. About 50% of project development manager openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. The planning, reporting, and vendor coordination portions of the role are most commonly performed remotely, while permitting reviews and site assessments typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a project development manager in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a project coordinator or project analyst role at one of Indiana's large capital-intensive employers, such as a utility, a contract manufacturer, or a hospital system, where structured mentorship and exposure to full project lifecycles are common. Cummins and Duke Energy Indiana are among the Indiana employers known for rotational and associate program tracks that bring newer professionals into project management pipelines. A PMP associate credential or a completed portfolio of small-scale projects demonstrating schedule and budget ownership can meaningfully strengthen an application at this stage.
