Overview
Activity Options LLC, a company providing services to special needs adults in Evergreen CO, is seeking a dedicated and responsible part time driver-transportation specialist to work 10-15 hours a week. Regular shift is from 8-9:30am and 3:00-4:15pm, Monday-Thursday. This position also provides maintenance and oversight of three vehicles, two which have wheelchair access.
The person in this position will provide transportation for special needs adults from their mountain homes to their day program in Evergreen in the morning and then back home in the afternoon. The vehicles are mini vans or a small para-transit bus. Patience, compassion and desire to serve required. Strong communication skills and a customer service orientation are essential. The ideal candidate will have a clean driving history and a commitment to providing safe, reliable, and courteous service, with knowledge of Evergreen and Conifer roads.
Duties
- Operate small vans safely and efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized bus interior for passenger comfort.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing support as needed.
- Communicate effectively with passengers regarding routes, schedules, and any changes in service.
- Manage passenger behavior to ensure a safe travel environment.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and mechanical soundness.
- Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance needs.
- Keep vehicles in good working condition, managing maintenance needs.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and exceptional driving record. CDL not required.
- Experience in bus driving or commercial driving a plus.
- Experience driving in winter conditions.
- Knowledge of Evergreen/Conifer area.
- Experience working with adults with disabilities or handicaps is beneficial.
- Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle operation and maintenance.
- Ability to manage behavior effectively in diverse situations.
- A commitment to safety and adherence to all transportation regulations.
