INTRODUCTION
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for sourcing materials, managing inventory levels, and optimizing inventory levels for both production/customer needs and cash flow. The role will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, negotiate favorable pricing and terms, and find alternative suppliers of goods and services.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Develop a long-term Purchasing strategy to ensure current process is scalable and flexible to support company growth.
- Meet with key vendors, source new vendors, negotiate price reductions, track inventories of key items and recommend timely purchases.
- Establish outsourcing opportunities.
- Manage supplier relations and negotiating contracts, pricing agreements, timelines, etc.
- Contract implementation - including developing and negotiations of agreements working with other necessary stakeholders.
- Lead continuous improvement to drive meaningful changes in process, supplier or material to deliver value beyond price.
- Process purchase requisitions and orders to secure products and/or services as required. Evaluate and implement orders where needed.
- Coordinate and consult with internal and external customers regarding purchase requirements following corporate procurement guidelines.
- Manage a team which processes and place purchase orders, track receipt of orders, approve invoices.
- Maintain the supplier database, purchase records, inventory level optimization by sku (min/max/lead time/EOQ, etc) and related documentation.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders to determine and manage inventory needs.
- Other duties as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- High School diploma required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Requires understanding of purchasing practices and use of accounting.
NECESSARY SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to securely organize and document data.
- Ability to communicate with internally / externally written and verbal.
