We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to oversee, inspect, and ensure top-tier execution across complex healthcare and academic construction projects. In this role, you will lead quality assurance initiatives, direct third-party contractors and trade labor, and maintain rigorous compliance with medical, university, and facility standards. This position is ideal for a technical leader with a deep understanding of physical plant systems and a strong background managing phased construction in specialized clinical environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage, direct, and inspect the work of third-party contractors, unionized trade labor, and external engineering/architecture consultants.
• Maintain technical oversight of physical plant systems, building automation systems (BAS), HVAC, plumbing, and electrical distribution.
• Oversee phased construction within medical office, ambulatory, and hospital facilities to minimize disruption to operational environments.
• Utilize project management, scheduling, and estimating systems such as eBuilder and Primavera.
• Ensure compliance with Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) standards and ICRA/ILSM guidelines during construction activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of management experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Experience working in medical office, medical research/laboratory, hospital, and university settings.
• Experience managing complex MEP/HVAC systems and phased construction projects.
• Experience with scheduling, estimating, and project management platforms like eBuilder and Primavera.
• Ability to manage, direct, and inspect the work of contractors, unionized labor, and consultants.
• Technical understanding of physical plant systems, building automation systems (BAS), HVAC, plumbing, and electrical distribution.
• Preferred experience with FGI guidelines, ICRA/ILSM protocols, medical equipment/infrastructure, and laboratory research facilities.
Preferred certifications include International Code Council (ICC) certifications (e.g., Special Inspector, Commercial Building Inspector), ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQMC), and OSHA 30-Hour.

The work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.

The Physical Side of the Role: This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings.

Your Work Environment: You’ll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. You will also spend time in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels. For this role the base salary range is $85,000 - $185,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
