The Senior Safety Manager will observe job sites, coordinate safety with contractors working on campus, and implement occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations. The Senior Safety Manager will work onsite with the client and collaborate with the Graham Company Safety Services team as needed.
JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates independent judgment and when necessary, exercises the authority to stop operations and activities that could harm to employees, equipment, or Owner’s property.
- Reviews Contractor Site-Specific Safety Plans prior to the start of construction on site.
- Review and comments on Crane Hoist Plans.
- Reviews JHA’s and PTP’s developed by Contractors for specific tasks.
- Periodically attends and participates in Progress /OAC Meetings.
- Monitors sites for compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Provides technical and administrative support to Contractors working on campus.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess contractor compliance with safety requirements.
- Works collaboratively with Graham Company Safety Services team.
- Trains internal Owner’s staff on safety requirements.
- Reviews and provides input on accident and incident reports.
- Attend meetings relating to your position.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required.
- At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in the construction industry required.
- Extensive knowledge of safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct training.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Professional demeanor.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient in Graham standard computer applications.
- Regular and predictable attendance in accordance with the limitations and reporting procedures established by The Graham Company from time to time.

- Traveling throughout campus as required to conduct safety inspections.
- The employee is often required to stand and walk; climb, balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch to regularly inspect job sites.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to sit for hours during meetings and/or to process their paperwork etc.
- Frequently required to sit; speak or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
- Extensive use of computer and keyboard and viewing of computer screen is required.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK LOCATION:
Work is performed onsite in the New Haven, CT area.
