Recruiter Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a recruiter in Michigan?
Most Michigan recruiters enter the field with a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related discipline, then build experience in a coordinator or sourcing role. Michigan does not require a state-issued license to work as a corporate or agency recruiter. Earning a credential such as the Professional in Human Resources designation from HRCI or the SHRM-CP strengthens your candidacy, and Michigan has active SHRM chapters in Detroit and Grand Rapids that support professional development.
How much do recruiters make in Michigan?
Recruiters in Michigan earn a median of about $69,520 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,580 for the lowest 10% to over $110,710 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire recruiters in Michigan?
Employers hiring recruiters in Michigan right now include Positive Behavior Supports, Pita Way, and Epitec, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's concentration of automotive manufacturers, large health systems, and professional staffing agencies means recruiting roles appear across a wide range of industries and employer sizes throughout the state.
Which Michigan cities have the most recruiter jobs?
Detroit, Southfield, and Grand Rapids account for the largest share of recruiter openings in Michigan. Detroit and its suburbs drive volume through the automotive and manufacturing sectors, while Grand Rapids pulls in healthcare and distribution recruiting, and Ann Arbor reflects demand from the University of Michigan health system and nearby tech employers.
Are there remote recruiter jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than most fields, because recruiting work centers on phone screens, video interviews, and digital sourcing rather than physical presence. About 50% of recruiter openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, making it one of the more flexible roles in the job market. Corporate talent acquisition and technical recruiting positions are the most likely to carry fully remote options.
How can I get hired as a recruiter in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an HR coordinator or recruiting coordinator role, which handles scheduling, ATS administration, and candidate communication without requiring prior full-cycle recruiting experience. Large Michigan employers like Henry Ford Health and the University of Michigan regularly post entry-level HR and talent operations positions that serve as a direct on-ramp. Staffing agencies headquartered in metro Detroit and Grand Rapids also hire associate recruiters and train them internally. Completing a SHRM-CP or PHR exam prep course signals seriousness to Michigan hiring managers reviewing candidates with limited experience.
Where can I find and apply to recruiter jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to recruiter jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings updated in real time. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your background and target industry, and apply directly to whichever positions fit your experience level and location preferences.
