Relationship Banker Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a relationship banker in California?
Most relationship banker positions in California require a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or economics, combined with a FINRA Series 6 or Series 7 registration for roles involving investment products. FINRA administers these exams and the registration is portable across California employers. Many candidates enter through personal banker or teller roles at large California retail banks and earn their FINRA registration while employed, since employers typically sponsor the exam after hire.
Which companies hire relationship bankers in California?
Employers hiring relationship bankers in California right now include Bank of America, JPMorganChase, and Bank Of Montreal, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's density of community banks, credit unions, and national bank branches across the Los Angeles basin and Bay Area means openings appear consistently throughout the year.
Which California cities have the most relationship banker jobs?
Los Angeles, San Diego, and Hollywood have the most relationship banker openings in California. Los Angeles and San Francisco drive volume through their concentration of national bank headquarters, private wealth offices, and small business lending operations, while San Diego's growth in technology-sector payroll banking and wealth management has made it a steady secondary market.
Are there remote relationship banker jobs in California?
Yes, but they're rare. Relationship banking is fundamentally client-facing, and most California employers require branch or office presence for the core role. About 0% of relationship banker openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to cover phone-based outreach, small business account management, or digital onboarding support rather than full-service branch work.
How can I get hired as a relationship banker in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a personal banker or teller role at a large California retail bank, where Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and Union Bank have historically run structured associate development programs that move candidates into relationship banker roles within one to two years. California community banks and credit unions also hire people from adjacent roles in customer service or insurance sales. Earning a FINRA Series 6 registration before applying gives candidates a clear advantage in any California market.
Where can I find and apply to relationship banker jobs in California?
You can find and apply to relationship banker jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings from employers actively hiring. Find the roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to each one.
