Relationship Banker Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a relationship banker in Maryland?
Most Maryland employers hire relationship bankers with a bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a closely related field. No state-issued banking license is required to work in the role, but candidates who hold or are willing to obtain a FINRA Series 6 or Series 63 registration are strongly preferred for positions that involve referring investment or insurance products. Many Maryland banks recruit through their internal training programs, and prior experience in branch banking or retail sales is the most common entry point.
Which companies hire relationship bankers in Maryland?
Companies currently hiring relationship bankers in Maryland include Bank of America, M&T Bank, and Truist, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Maryland's dense mix of regional banks, national institutions, and community lenders creates steady demand for relationship banker talent across the state.
Which Maryland cities have the most relationship banker jobs?
Baltimore, Frederick, and Columbia account for the largest share of relationship banker openings in Maryland. Baltimore anchors the market as the state's financial services hub, home to major bank headquarters and commercial lending centers, while Rockville and Annapolis draw strong demand from the affluent suburban corridors and state government-adjacent business banking activity that characterizes those markets.
Are there remote relationship banker jobs in Maryland?
Yes, but they're rare. Relationship banking is fundamentally a client-facing role built around branch presence, in-person meetings, and portfolio management, which limits remote availability. About 0% of relationship banker openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in telephone-based banking, digital account management, or senior portfolio roles where travel substitutes for a fixed branch location.
How can I get hired as a relationship banker in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a bank teller or personal banker associate role, which Maryland institutions like M&T Bank and Sandy Spring Bank use as a structured pipeline into relationship banking. Large Maryland branches regularly post associate relationship banker titles designed for recent graduates, and internal mobility from teller or customer service representative positions is common. Completing a FINRA Series 6 registration before applying demonstrates commitment and removes a cost barrier for employers, giving candidates with limited experience a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to relationship banker jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to relationship banker jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and preferred market, and apply directly to each position that fits.
