Risk Manager Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a risk manager in Wisconsin?
Most risk manager roles in Wisconsin require a bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a closely related field, followed by relevant experience in risk analysis or compliance. Wisconsin does not issue a state-specific license for risk managers, but professional credentials such as the Financial Risk Manager designation, the Certified Risk Manager credential, or the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter certification are widely recognized by Wisconsin employers and strengthen candidacy considerably.
Which companies hire risk managers in Wisconsin?
Employers hiring risk managers in Wisconsin right now include U.S. Bank, TRICOR Insurance, and Plexus, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Wisconsin's large insurance carriers, regional banks, and integrated health systems account for a significant share of the consistent posting volume across the state.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most risk manager jobs?
Madison, Milwaukee, and Neenah lead Wisconsin in risk manager openings. Milwaukee drives the largest share of postings, anchored by the city's concentration of insurance headquarters, financial institutions, and corporate risk functions, while Madison's government agencies, university system, and health networks sustain steady demand, and Green Bay's growing financial services and manufacturing sectors contribute additional openings.
Are there remote risk manager jobs in Wisconsin?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 75% of risk manager openings tied to Wisconsin are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the role involves data analysis, reporting, and policy review rather than on-site inspections. Enterprise risk, financial risk modeling, and compliance-focused roles are the most likely to carry flexible or fully remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a risk manager in Wisconsin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a risk analyst or compliance analyst role, which large Wisconsin employers such as Northwestern Mutual, Baird, and Advocate Aurora Health use as a pipeline into senior risk positions. A finance or business degree paired with an entry-level credential like the Associate in Risk Management gives candidates a measurable edge. Rotational programs at major financial institutions and analyst tracks at regional insurers are the most accessible starting points for candidates without direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to risk manager jobs in Wisconsin?
You can find and apply to risk manager jobs in Wisconsin on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and the location you want, and apply directly to those listings.
