Sales Account Manager Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a sales account manager job in San Diego?
Focus your search on San Diego's strongest hiring pockets: life sciences companies in Torrey Pines and Sorrento Valley, defense and government contractors in Kearny Mesa, and B2B software firms in the UTC and Carmel Valley corridors. Candidates who can demonstrate consultative selling experience and familiarity with longer enterprise or government sales cycles stand out here. Networking through local industry events and San Diego-specific professional groups also gives a concrete edge over applicants applying cold.
Which companies hire sales account managers in San Diego?
San Diego sales account manager roles are posted by Verizon, Year, and Paycom and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market includes a strong mix of mid-size life sciences firms, defense contractors with commercial divisions, and growth-stage technology companies that hire account managers at multiple seniority levels.
Are there remote sales account manager jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though with limits: sales account management is relationship-driven and many San Diego employers, especially in life sciences and defense, expect regular in-person client contact. About 100% of sales account manager openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the fully remote roles most common in SaaS and B2B software companies headquartered elsewhere but hiring in the region.
How can I get a sales account manager job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is through a sales development representative or inside sales role at one of the city's many growth-stage tech or life sciences companies, particularly those in Sorrento Valley or the UTC area. These firms often promote from within once reps hit quota consistently. Lateral moves from customer success or technical support roles at San Diego software companies also open the door, since those backgrounds signal client-relationship skills that translate directly into account management.
Which industries hire the most sales account managers in San Diego?
The sectors hiring the most sales account managers in San Diego are Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Diego's concentration of biotech, medtech, and defense-adjacent firms creates consistent demand for account managers who can sell complex or regulated products to institutional and enterprise buyers.
