Sales Director Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales director in Louisiana?
Most sales directors in Louisiana reach the role after several years in quota-carrying positions followed by a team lead or regional manager role. Louisiana does not require a state-issued license specifically for sales directors, but employers in regulated sectors like insurance or financial services expect candidates to hold an active Louisiana Department of Insurance license or FINRA registration. A bachelor's degree in business or marketing is the standard entry credential.
How much do sales directors make in Louisiana?
Sales directors in Louisiana earn a median of about $110,700 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,040 for the lowest 10% to over $217,600 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales directors in Louisiana?
Louisiana sales director roles are posted by Tulane University, Hilton, and Valsource and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Louisiana's concentration of energy companies, large health systems, and industrial distributors means sales director openings appear regularly across both the private and nonprofit sectors.
Which Louisiana cities have the most sales director jobs?
New Orleans, Shreveport, and Central lead Louisiana for sales director openings. New Orleans drives volume through its port, tourism, and healthcare industries, while Baton Rouge reflects demand from petrochemical headquarters and state government contractors, and Shreveport draws from its manufacturing and cross-regional distribution base.
Are there remote sales director jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and they're more available than in many fields, since sales strategy, pipeline management, and team oversight can be handled remotely. About 20% of sales director openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of flexible arrangements. National accounts and software sales roles tend to offer the most location flexibility.
How can I get hired as a sales director in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a sales director role from an account executive or regional sales manager position at a Louisiana employer. Large organizations like Ochsner Health, Turner Industries, and Entergy promote from within their sales and business development teams. Earning a Louisiana Department of Insurance license opens director-track roles in insurance and benefits, while a Salesforce certification strengthens candidacy at technology and industrial distributors hiring in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
