Sales Engineer Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales engineer in New Jersey?
Most New Jersey employers require a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or a technical field directly related to the products being sold. There is no state-issued license specific to sales engineers in New Jersey, so the path runs through technical education, product knowledge, and hands-on industry experience. Candidates from chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering programs often transition into technical sales roles with New Jersey's large pharma and industrial manufacturing employers, sometimes starting in field applications or technical support positions first.
How much do sales engineers make in New Jersey?
Sales engineers in New Jersey earn a median of about $139,010 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $91,370 for the lowest 10% to over $191,050 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales engineers in New Jersey?
Employers hiring sales engineers in New Jersey right now include Komline, Schindler, and Stark Tech, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical manufacturers, industrial automation firms, and enterprise technology companies means hiring tends to be consistent throughout the year rather than seasonal.
Which New Jersey cities have the most sales engineer jobs?
New Jersey, Newark, and Peapack have the most sales engineer openings in New Jersey. Newark anchors the market as the state's largest commercial hub with strong logistics and telecom employers, Princeton draws demand from life sciences and instrumentation companies clustered along the Route 1 corridor, and Parsippany serves as a regional headquarters base for numerous industrial and technology firms that rely on resident sales engineers.
Are there remote sales engineer jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many technical roles, since a meaningful share of sales engineering work, such as solution design, proposal writing, and virtual demonstrations, can be done off-site. About 75% of sales engineer openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting employer flexibility in the post-pandemic market. The portions most likely to remain on-site are live product demonstrations, client facility assessments, and installation support for industrial or lab-based customers.
How can I get hired as a sales engineer in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a technical support, field applications engineer, or inside sales role at one of New Jersey's large industrial or life sciences employers, where you build product expertise before moving into a full sales engineer position. Companies like Siemens and Honeywell run rotational or associate programs for engineering graduates that include commercial exposure. A relevant engineering degree paired with product certifications, such as those offered by automation vendors or major software platforms, gives candidates without experience a clear advantage when applying to these structured programs.
Where can I find and apply to sales engineer jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to sales engineer jobs in New Jersey directly on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one.
