Communications Manager Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a communications manager in New Jersey?
Communications manager roles in New Jersey do not require a state-issued license, but employers consistently expect a bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing. Most New Jersey hirers in pharma, finance, and media want several years of progressively responsible communications work before considering candidates for manager-level roles. Building a portfolio of campaign results, press placements, and internal communications projects strengthens a candidacy considerably in this market.
Which companies hire communications managers in New Jersey?
Employers hiring communications managers in New Jersey right now include Verizon, Amentum, and Versant, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's dense concentration of Fortune 500 pharmaceutical and financial services headquarters means corporate communications roles here often carry broader scope and higher visibility than comparable positions in other states.
Which New Jersey cities have the most communications manager jobs?
Princeton, Basking Ridge, and Madison currently have the most communications manager openings in New Jersey. Newark draws volume from its financial, healthcare, and media sectors, Princeton and its surrounding corridor attract roles tied to pharmaceutical and biotech headquarters, and Parsippany serves as a regional hub for several large consumer and professional services firms with significant internal communications teams.
Are there remote communications manager jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than most fields, because communications work is largely desk-based and deliverable-driven. About 83% of communications manager openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the broader shift toward flexible arrangements in corporate functions. Strategic and content-focused work tends to be the most remote-eligible, while roles requiring regular executive presence or on-site media coordination are more likely to require in-office days.
How can I get hired as a communications manager in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a communications coordinator or public relations associate role at one of New Jersey's large pharmaceutical or financial services employers, which regularly hire new graduates into structured communications rotations or associate programs. Companies anchored in the Princeton corridor and Parsippany area often post junior communications roles that feed into manager pipelines. Completing an internship at a New Jersey-based agency or corporate communications department and building a portfolio of real writing samples and campaign results gives candidates a clear edge when competing for those openings.
Where can I find and apply to communications manager jobs in New Jersey?
