Business Sales Representative Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business sales representative in New Jersey?
Most business sales representative roles in New Jersey require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a closely related field, though some employers accept equivalent work experience. New Jersey does not require a state-issued license for general B2B sales roles. Candidates targeting pharmaceutical sales often pursue voluntary credentials like the Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative designation. Building familiarity with New Jersey's dominant industries, pharma, financial services, and technology, significantly strengthens a candidate's profile with local employers.
How much do business sales representatives make in New Jersey?
Business sales representatives in New Jersey earn a median of about $79,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $44,290 for the lowest 10% to over $167,430 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business sales representatives in New Jersey?
Employers hiring business sales representatives in New Jersey right now include ADT, Comcast, and GoTrade, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters and financial services firms means local postings often require candidates who understand regulated-industry sales cycles.
Which New Jersey cities have the most business sales representative jobs?
New Jersey, Dover, and Ewing have the most business sales representative openings in New Jersey. The volume in these areas reflects the state's dense concentration of corporate headquarters, pharmaceutical campuses, and regional financial offices, which consistently generate large sales teams and require both local territory reps and account management professionals.
Are there remote business sales representative jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and they are fairly common, since business sales representative work focused on phone, video, and digital outreach translates well to remote settings. About 33% of business sales representative openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting employer flexibility across the state. Inside sales and account management roles tend to carry the highest rate of remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a business sales representative in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or inside sales associate role, where New Jersey employers in pharma and tech regularly hire candidates without prior sales experience. Companies like Johnson and Johnson and Cognizant run structured new-hire programs that pair junior reps with senior mentors. A completed bachelor's degree, a voluntary sales certification, or a demonstrated record from adjacent roles in customer service or retail gives candidates a measurable edge in the New Jersey market.
Where can I find and apply to business sales representative jobs in New Jersey?
