Sales Agent Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales agent in New Jersey?
The path depends on the sales specialty. For insurance sales agents, the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance requires passing a state licensing exam and completing pre-licensing education before you can sell policies. For pharmaceutical, medical device, or B2B sales, no state license is required, but employers typically want a bachelor's degree and some customer-facing experience. Building familiarity with CRM tools and product knowledge in your target industry strengthens most applications significantly.
Which companies hire sales agents in New Jersey?
New Jersey sales agent roles are posted by Humana, THE PARKER, and Aaa Club Alliance and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical, financial services, and insurance headquarters means large, established employers with ongoing sales headcount needs anchor much of the market.
Which New Jersey cities have the most sales agent jobs?
Cherry Hill, Union, and Berlin have the most sales agent openings in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City benefit from proximity to the New York City metro financial and insurance corridor, while Parsippany-Troy Hills and the Route 1 corridor attract pharmaceutical and medical device sales roles tied to the dense cluster of life sciences employers headquartered in central New Jersey.
Are there remote sales agent jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many other fields, particularly for inside sales, account management, and insurance sales roles that rely on phone and video outreach rather than in-person visits. About 27% of sales agent openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly the shift to virtual selling has taken hold. Field-based territory roles, especially in medical devices and industrial sales, still require regular in-person client contact.
How can I get hired as a sales agent in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an inside sales representative or sales development representative role, which New Jersey-based employers in insurance, fintech, and SaaS regularly fill with candidates straight out of college. Prudential, MetLife, and regional insurance agencies in northern New Jersey run structured onboarding programs for new producers who are willing to sit for the state insurance exam. Lateral moves from customer service or retail management are common and well-regarded. Earning your New Jersey insurance producer license before applying gives you a concrete edge over other entry-level candidates.
Where can I find and apply to sales agent jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to sales agent jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current New Jersey openings. Search the listings, find the roles that match your background and target specialty, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
