Sales Business Development Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales business development in New Jersey?
Most sales business development roles in New Jersey do not require a state-issued license, so the typical path starts with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related discipline. New Jersey's concentrated pharmaceutical and financial services industries often prefer candidates with some domain knowledge, so coursework or internships in life sciences or finance strengthens an application considerably. Entry-level roles such as sales development representative or account coordinator are the most common starting points for new professionals in the state.
How much do sales business developments make in New Jersey?
Sales business developments in New Jersey earn a median of about $79,410 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $47,910 for the lowest 10% to over $169,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales business developments in New Jersey?
Employers hiring sales business developments in New Jersey right now include GoTrade, PEZ Candy, and Brother USA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's dense concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and pharmaceutical campuses means a broad range of industries, from enterprise technology to healthcare solutions, actively recruit business development talent throughout the year.
Which New Jersey cities have the most sales business development jobs?
The cities with the most sales business development openings in New Jersey are New Jersey, Dover, and Ewing. Newark anchors demand through its financial services and logistics sectors, Princeton draws heavily from the pharmaceutical and biotech corridor stretching along Route 1, and Parsippany benefits from the concentration of technology and consumer goods company headquarters that have long made Morris County a hub for regional sales operations.
Are there remote sales business development jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than most fields, since business development work is largely relationship-driven, phone and video-based, and tied to CRM platforms that function from anywhere. About 50% of sales business development openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly the industry has adopted flexible arrangements. Roles focused on outbound prospecting, partnership development, and SaaS account management tend to carry the highest share of fully remote or hybrid options.
How can I get hired as a sales business development in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for sales development representative or inside sales associate roles, which large New Jersey employers in pharma, tech, and financial services use as structured on-ramps for candidates without prior business development experience. Companies like Johnson & Johnson, Cognizant, and regional financial services firms run rotational sales programs and new-graduate associate tracks specifically designed to train candidates from the ground up. Earning a Salesforce Administrator certification or completing a sales methodology course such as SPIN or Challenger gives candidates a measurable edge over others at the same experience level.
Where can I find and apply to sales business development jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to sales business development jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring across the state. Search by city, seniority level, or industry to narrow results to the roles that fit your background. Find a role that fits and apply directly through the listing.
