Sales Agent Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales agent in Texas?
The path depends on the sales field. For insurance sales, the Texas Department of Insurance requires you to pass a state licensing exam for your chosen line of authority, such as life, health, or property and casualty, before you can sell. Real estate sales agents must complete pre-license coursework and pass the Texas Real Estate Commission exam. For most other sales roles, a bachelor's degree and a clean background check are the typical baseline requirements.
Which companies hire sales agents in Texas?
Employers hiring sales agents in Texas right now include A-MAX Insurance, Humana, and Marsh McLennan Agency, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of insurance carriers, energy companies, and technology firms means steady hiring across both corporate headquarters and regional field offices throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most sales agent jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston have the most sales agent openings in Texas. Houston drives volume through its energy and healthcare sectors, Dallas through its dense concentration of insurance carriers and corporate headquarters, and Austin through its fast-growing technology industry, where inside and field sales roles are consistently in demand.
Are there remote sales agent jobs in Texas?
Yes, and they're more common than in many other fields. About 8% of sales agent openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the role can be conducted by phone, video call, and digital tools. Inside sales and insurance sales roles are the most likely to offer fully remote arrangements, while outside territory and field sales roles typically require regular in-person client visits.
How can I get hired as a sales agent in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an inside sales representative or sales development representative role, which large Texas employers such as AT&T, Dell Technologies, and regional insurance agencies hire for regularly without requiring prior sales experience. Completing your Texas Department of Insurance exam for property and casualty or life and health immediately signals commitment and makes you competitive for entry-level insurance positions. Adjacent roles in customer service, retail, or account coordination at Texas-based firms are also common stepping stones into a dedicated sales agent career.
Where can I find and apply to sales agent jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to sales agent jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and metro areas. Find roles that fit your experience and target location, then apply directly to each employer through the listing.
