Sales Agent Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales agent in Texas?
The path depends on the sales specialty. For insurance sales, you must pass the Texas Department of Insurance licensing exam in your chosen line of authority, such as life, health, or property and casualty, before you can legally sell. Real estate sales agents must complete coursework approved by the Texas Real Estate Commission and pass its licensing exam. For general B2B or technology sales roles, no state license is required, and employers typically hire based on education, relevant experience, and demonstrated sales aptitude.
Which companies hire sales agents in Texas?
Employers hiring sales agents in Texas right now include A-MAX Insurance, Farmers Insurance, and Humana, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's size and industry diversity mean demand is consistent from large enterprise employers in insurance, energy, and telecom as well as regional distributors and fast-growing technology firms headquartered in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin corridors.
Which Texas cities have the most sales agent jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston lead the state in sales agent openings. Houston's concentration in energy, healthcare, and logistics drives heavy demand for B2B and commercial sales professionals, while Dallas-Fort Worth's dense mix of corporate headquarters in insurance, telecom, and financial services sustains consistent hiring, and San Antonio's growing healthcare and government contracting sectors round out the top markets.
Are there remote sales agent jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many fields, particularly for inside sales, SaaS account management, and insurance sales roles that rely on phone and video rather than in-person visits. About 11% of sales agent openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted distributed sales teams. Field sales, commercial real estate, and territory-based roles remain largely in-person by nature.
How can I get hired as a sales agent in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic starting point is an entry-level inside sales or sales development representative role, which large Texas employers such as AT&T, Dell Technologies, and regional insurance agencies hire for with no prior sales experience required. Earning your Texas Department of Insurance license before applying gives you a concrete credential that moves your resume ahead. Customer service, retail, and property management are the adjacent roles Texas employers most often hire laterally from, and many major insurance carriers run structured new-agent training programs from their Texas offices.
Where can I find and apply to sales agent jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to sales agent jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, identify the roles that match your background and target market, and apply directly to each one that fits.
