Insurance Sales Agent Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance sales agent in New Jersey?
To become an insurance sales agent in New Jersey, you must obtain a producer license through the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance. The process requires completing state-approved pre-licensing education for your chosen line of authority, passing the licensing exam administered by Pearson VUE, and submitting a license application through the NIPR portal. Most employers prefer candidates with at least a high school diploma, and a bachelor's degree in business or finance strengthens your application considerably.
Which companies hire insurance sales agents in New Jersey?
Companies currently hiring insurance sales agents in New Jersey include State Farm, THE PARKER, and Aaa Club Alliance, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's dense concentration of Fortune 500 insurance carriers and national brokerages headquartered in the state means the hiring pipeline tends to be active year-round across both captive and independent agency models.
Which New Jersey cities have the most insurance sales agent jobs?
Union, Princeton, and Lodi consistently lead New Jersey in insurance sales agent openings. Newark and Jersey City draw the bulk of postings because of the major carrier headquarters and financial services firms anchored there, while Parsippany and Iselin attract listings from regional brokerages and third-party administrators that have established their mid-Atlantic operations in Morris and Middlesex counties.
Are there remote insurance sales agent jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many sales roles, because licensed agents can often meet with clients and manage renewals entirely by phone and video. About 43% of insurance sales agent openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting growing carrier acceptance of distributed sales teams. Roles focused on personal lines phone sales and inside commercial account management tend to offer the most remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a insurance sales agent in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a captive agency as a licensed sales trainee, where carriers such as Prudential or a major auto and home insurer provide structured onboarding and a book of leads while you build your client base. Obtaining your New Jersey producer license before you apply is the single biggest differentiator at the entry level. Customer service representative roles at New Jersey brokerages are a common lateral move into sales, and associate producer programs at regional independent agencies in areas like Morristown and Cherry Hill regularly accept candidates who are newly licensed.
Where can I find and apply to insurance sales agent jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to insurance sales agent jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current New Jersey openings across carriers, brokerages, and independent agencies. Find the roles that fit your license type and experience level and apply directly.
