Sre Engineer Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sre engineer in Colorado?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a sre engineer in Colorado. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, though candidates with equivalent hands-on experience are regularly considered. Building demonstrated proficiency in reliability engineering practices, cloud infrastructure, and automation tools is the most direct path. Earning vendor certifications from AWS, Google Cloud, or the Linux Foundation strengthens applications considerably in the Colorado market.
How much do sre engineers make in Colorado?
Sre engineers in Colorado earn a median of about $138,390 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $96,480 for the lowest 10% to over $213,010 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sre engineers in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring sre engineers in Colorado include Vertafore, Todyl, and MongoDB, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's concentration of aerospace, defense technology, and financial services firms means sre engineers here often work on mission-critical, high-compliance infrastructure alongside software-focused product companies.
Which Colorado cities have the most sre engineer jobs?
Denver, Aurora, and Centennial have the most sre engineer openings in Colorado. Denver leads because it is home to the state's largest concentration of technology companies, financial services firms, and enterprise software organizations, while Boulder's startup and research ecosystem drives demand in adjacent areas, and Colorado Springs adds volume through its substantial defense and aerospace contracting sector.
Are there remote sre engineer jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 71% of sre engineer openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the fundamentally infrastructure-based and tooling-driven nature of the work. Roles focused on cloud platform management, monitoring, and automation tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions requiring hands-on data center access or classified government work are more likely to be on-site.
How can I get hired as a sre engineer in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a systems administrator, DevOps engineer, or software developer role where you have already worked with deployment pipelines or infrastructure tooling. Colorado employers in the technology and aerospace sectors, including large contractors in the Colorado Springs area, regularly bring on associate platform engineers or junior DevOps engineers who then grow into SRE responsibilities. Building a portfolio of personal or open-source infrastructure projects and earning a foundational cloud certification gives candidates a meaningful advantage when applying to these transition-friendly roles.
Where can I find and apply to sre engineer jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to sre engineer jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location preferences, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
