Tax Senior Associate Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax senior associate in Colorado?
Most Colorado firms require an active CPA license, which means passing the Uniform CPA Examination and meeting the Colorado State Board of Accountancy's education and experience requirements before licensure. You'll need a bachelor's degree with sufficient accounting credits and at least one year of qualifying supervised experience. From there, candidates typically spend two to three years in staff-level public accounting before moving into a senior associate role handling complex compliance and provision work.
How much do tax senior associates make in Colorado?
Tax senior associates in Colorado earn a median of about $97,030 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $60,760 for the lowest 10% to over $162,160 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax senior associates in Colorado?
Colorado tax senior associate roles are posted by BDO, CBIZ, and HCVT and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's concentration of technology companies, energy firms, and private equity-backed businesses means both Big Four offices and regional firms in Denver maintain consistent hiring at this level.
Which Colorado cities have the most tax senior associate jobs?
Denver, Englewood, and Longmont account for the largest share of tax senior associate openings in Colorado. Denver dominates because it serves as the Mountain West hub for major accounting firms and hosts the corporate headquarters of large energy, aerospace, and financial services companies that require dedicated tax teams, while Boulder and Colorado Springs draw additional demand from their growing technology and defense contractor sectors.
Are there remote tax senior associate jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than many professional roles, given that tax compliance and provision work is largely document-driven and software-based. About 68% of tax senior associate openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work environments. Federal and state corporate tax compliance tends to be the most remote-accessible specialty, while client-facing advisory work more often requires in-office or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a tax senior associate in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is landing a staff accountant or tax associate role at a Denver-area public accounting firm and building two to three years of compliance experience before stepping into a senior associate position. Large Colorado offices of firms such as Deloitte, Grant Thornton, and Plante Moran run structured new-graduate programs that develop associates toward senior roles. Candidates who complete the CPA exam early and gain exposure to corporate return preparation or ASC 740 work gain a measurable edge in competitive Colorado hiring pools.
Where can I find and apply to tax senior associate jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to tax senior associate jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings updated regularly. Search for roles that fit your experience level, specialty, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that match.
