Finance And Accounting Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance and accounting professional in Colorado?
Most finance and accounting roles in Colorado require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and many employers prefer candidates who hold or are pursuing a CPA license. Colorado CPA licensure is administered by the Colorado State Board of Accountancy, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Examination, meeting education hour requirements, and completing supervised work experience. For financial analyst and FP&A roles, a CFA designation is also valued by Colorado employers.
Which companies hire finance and accountings in Colorado?
Employers hiring finance and accountings in Colorado right now include Robert Half, University of Maryland Global Campus, and Jobot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's concentration of aerospace, technology, and financial services headquarters means demand is broad, with both large corporations and regional firms posting consistently throughout the year.
Which Colorado cities have the most finance and accounting jobs?
Denver, Colorado Springs, and Lakewood account for the most finance and accounting openings in Colorado. Denver drives the bulk of demand as the state's financial and corporate hub, home to major bank branches, insurance carriers, and publicly traded company headquarters, while Boulder attracts roles tied to its technology sector and Colorado Springs supports finance teams within its large defense and government contracting community.

Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of finance and accounting openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well-suited desk-based analytical and reporting work is for distributed teams. Roles in financial analysis, FP&A, and management accounting tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while positions requiring physical oversight of transactions or on-site audit work are more likely to be in-office.

The most realistic entry path is an accounts payable, accounts receivable, or junior staff accountant role, which large Colorado employers like Xcel Energy, DaVita, and state government agencies regularly post for recent graduates. Pursuing or completing a CPA exam section gives candidates a clear edge in a competitive market. Internship programs at Colorado's public accounting firms and rotational associate programs at corporate finance departments in Denver provide structured entry points for those without direct experience.
