Job Summary:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing patient and staff requests as well as becoming proficient with medical insurance plans and pricing. This position will collaborate with management, providers, and cross department team members to provide patient support related to Billing and the patient care experience.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Understanding types of service, codes, insurance terminology, authorizations/referrals, eligibility, deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket limits.
- Share call center duties regarding patient balances, insurance questions and pricing
- Ability to explain financial information clearly and respectfully to patients.
- Follow Up on EPIC internal In Basket messages regarding eligibility , benefits and patient concerns
- Familiarity with medical insurance portals and EPIC work queues to follow appropriate processes appealing denied claims.
- Ability to obtain and update patient personal and financial information using established protocols.
- Must maintain patient confidentiality and privacy per current HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in any additional duties requested by the Revenue Management Supervisor.
- Participation in ongoing training and staff meetings.

Education and Experience:
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Medical office experience preferred

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform computer-based work and communicate with patients and staff by telephone and in person.
- Ability to move within the office to support assigned duties.
Hours a Week: 40 (Hybrid)
