Accounting Analyst Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting analyst in Colorado?
Most employers in Colorado require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance as the baseline for an accounting analyst role. While a state license is not required to work as an accounting analyst, candidates who are pursuing or have earned CPA licensure through the Colorado State Board of Accountancy hold a clear advantage in the hiring market. Internship experience at a Colorado employer and familiarity with ERP platforms used locally strengthen a candidate's profile considerably.
How much do accounting analysts make in Colorado?
Accounting analysts in Colorado earn a median of about $97,100 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $70,660 for the lowest 10% to over $130,180 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire accounting analysts in Colorado?
Employers hiring accounting analysts in Colorado right now include EchoStar, GAIA, and ActionStep, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's mix of defense contractors, large health systems, and energy utilities creates consistent demand for analysts across multiple specialties.
Which Colorado cities have the most accounting analyst jobs?
Englewood, Niwot, and Aurora have the most accounting analyst openings in Colorado. Denver dominates because it is home to major corporate headquarters, regional offices for national companies, and a large government contracting sector, while Colorado Springs benefits from its concentration of defense and aerospace employers, and Boulder draws openings from its technology and research-driven companies.
Are there remote accounting analyst jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of accounting analyst openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting that much of the work involves software systems, spreadsheets, and virtual reporting rather than on-site operations. Financial reporting, budget analysis, and reconciliation tasks are the parts of the role most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a accounting analyst in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing an accounting internship or a staff accountant role at a Colorado employer and moving into an analyst title from there. Large Colorado health systems such as Centura Health and SCL Health run new-graduate accounting programs, and defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon hire entry-level financial analysts for contract accounting support. Candidates who have completed coursework toward the CPA through an accredited Colorado university and hold proficiency in Excel and a major ERP system are competitive even without direct analyst experience.
Where can I find and apply to accounting analyst jobs in Colorado?
