Technical Program Manager Jobs in San Jose: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a technical program manager job in San Jose?
The strongest path into San Jose's market is through its semiconductor and enterprise software sectors, which drive the bulk of local hiring. Companies in North San Jose and the Coyote Valley corridor tend to prioritize candidates with hardware or systems program management experience alongside cross-functional delivery credentials. A background coordinating engineering teams on chip, platform, or cloud programs gives you a concrete edge over generalist applicants in this market.
Which companies hire technical program managers in San Jose?
San Jose technical program manager roles are posted by Google, AMD, and TikTok and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The city's employer mix skews heavily toward semiconductor manufacturers, networking hardware companies, and large-scale enterprise software firms with deep engineering organizations.
Are there remote technical program manager jobs in San Jose?
Yes, though the role leans toward on-site and hybrid given how much of the work involves coordinating cross-functional engineering teams in real time. About 47% of technical program manager openings tied to San Jose are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with fully remote positions most common on the software and cloud side of the market rather than in hardware or semiconductor programs.
How can I get a technical program manager job in San Jose with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Jose is through a program coordinator or associate project manager role at one of the city's mid-size networking or semiconductor firms, where smaller team structures give early-career candidates broader exposure faster. Lateral moves from engineering, QA, or systems analyst roles are common locally, since San Jose employers in hardware tend to value technical depth and will develop program management skills on the job. Building familiarity with Agile delivery and roadmap tooling gives you a concrete edge at the interview stage.
Which industries hire the most technical program managers in San Jose?
The sectors hiring the most technical program managers in San Jose are Technology & Software, Electronics & Hardware, and Retail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026.
