What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end program execution for major cross-functional initiatives — from kickoff and scoping through launch and retrospective.
- Build and maintain program plans that map dependencies across engineering, product, design, and data teams, keeping everyone aligned on scope, milestones, and timelines.
- Drive the operating cadence — run planning cycles, standups, reviews, and launch readiness; make meetings sharp, decisions clear, and follow-ups accountable.
- Identify, escalate, and resolve risks and blockers early, proactively unblocking teams and re-sequencing work when priorities shift.
- Translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders, turning complex engineering realities into crisp updates for leadership and clear context for the teams doing the work.
- Improve how we operate — establish lightweight, scalable processes for planning, prioritization, and delivery that reduce friction rather than add it.
- Maintain a single source of truth on program status, dependencies, and decisions, so anyone can understand where things stand at a glance.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years in technical program management, engineering program management, or a closely related role at a software/technology company.
- A technical foundation — you can read a system design doc, follow architectural trade-off discussions, and engage credibly with engineers. Prior experience as an engineer, or a CS/technical degree, is a strong plus.
- Proven track record shipping complex, cross-functional software programs on time, with multiple teams and competing priorities.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills — you write clearly, run a tight meeting, and keep large groups of people aligned.
- Comfort with ambiguity and speed — you create structure where there is none and adapt as priorities evolve in a fast-growing startup.
- Strong judgment on prioritization and risk — you know what matters most, what can wait, and what could derail a launch.
- Experience with modern delivery tooling (e.g., GitHub, Linear/Jira, Notion) and an instinct for using process to enable, not bottleneck, the team.
Nice to Have
- Experience in AI/ML, data platforms, or B2B SaaS products.
- Familiarity with the insurance, fintech, or enterprise software domains.
- Experience standing up program-management practices at an early- or growth-stage company.

Technical Program Manager Jobs in Santa Clara: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a technical program manager job in Santa Clara?
Focus on Santa Clara's dominant sectors: semiconductor design, cloud platforms, and networking hardware, where most local openings concentrate. Employers in the Great America corridor and along the Central Expressway tend to prioritize candidates with cross-functional experience managing hardware and firmware programs alongside software. Familiarity with silicon development cycles or data center infrastructure gives you a clear edge in this market over general software PM backgrounds.
Which companies hire technical program managers in Santa Clara?
Employers hiring technical program managers in Santa Clara right now include NVIDIA, Amazon, and Foxconn, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Santa Clara's hiring base skews heavily toward semiconductor manufacturers, networking equipment companies, and cloud infrastructure firms with large campuses in the city.
Are there remote technical program manager jobs in Santa Clara?
Yes, though technical program manager roles tied to hardware, lab coordination, or on-site engineering teams tend to require in-person presence. About 33% of technical program manager openings tied to Santa Clara are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote arrangements most common for program management work focused on software delivery, vendor coordination, and roadmap planning.
How can I get a technical program manager job in Santa Clara with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Santa Clara is transitioning from a technical role, such as software engineer, hardware engineer, or QA lead, within one of the city's mid-size semiconductor or networking firms. Companies at that scale often promote internally into associate program manager or program coordinator roles before opening them externally. Building familiarity with Agile, JIRA, and cross-team release processes makes you a stronger internal candidate at these employer types.
Which industries hire the most technical program managers in Santa Clara?
Most technical program manager openings in Santa Clara sit in Technology & Software, Electronics & Hardware, and Law & Legal Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Santa Clara's concentration of semiconductor fabs, networking hardware firms, and hyperscaler campus operations drives consistently high demand for program managers who can coordinate complex, multi-team engineering programs.
