Technical Sales Specialist Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical sales specialist in Idaho?
Most Idaho employers require a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, computer science, agronomy, or business paired with industry knowledge relevant to the employer's product line. No state-issued license is required for most technical sales specialist roles in Idaho. Candidates who build expertise in a vertical such as agricultural technology, semiconductor equipment, or industrial automation, along with demonstrated sales aptitude, are most competitive for positions at Idaho-based employers.
How much do technical sales specialists make in Idaho?
Technical sales specialists in Idaho earn a median of about $128,030 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $85,620 for the lowest 10% to over $260,510 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical sales specialists in Idaho?
Employers hiring technical sales specialists in Idaho right now include State of Idaho, RedBuilt, and Datablaze, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Idaho's concentration of agriculture technology, semiconductor manufacturing, and industrial equipment companies means technical sales roles appear consistently across both Treasure Valley headquarters and regional offices.
Which Idaho cities have the most technical sales specialist jobs?
Boise, Meridian, and Hayden have the most technical sales specialist openings in Idaho. Boise anchors the market as the state's largest commercial hub, home to Micron Technology and a growing software and industrial sector, while Nampa and Twin Falls draw consistent postings from agricultural equipment and food processing companies that rely on field-based technical sales professionals.
Are there remote technical sales specialist jobs in Idaho?
Yes, but they are more limited than in purely desk-based roles, since technical sales often requires on-site demonstrations, client visits, and product walkthroughs. About 25% of technical sales specialist openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, which reflects the field's blend of in-person client work and back-office tasks. Account management, inside sales, and pre-sales engineering functions are the portions of the role most likely to be performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a technical sales specialist in Idaho with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a technical role, such as field technician, application engineer, or agronomy advisor, into a junior sales support or inside sales position at an Idaho employer. Micron Technology and Simplot both hire early-career candidates into technical roles that transition into sales functions over time. A degree in a relevant technical field, completion of a manufacturer's product training program, or a Salesforce certification strengthens a candidate's case when direct sales experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to technical sales specialist jobs in Idaho?
You can find and apply to technical sales specialist jobs in Idaho on Migrate Mate, which lists current Idaho openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and target industry, and apply directly to the ones that fit your experience level and preferred location within Idaho.
