Technical Support Manager Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical support manager in Hawaii?
The most direct path is combining a bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science with hands-on experience as a technical support specialist or systems administrator in Hawaii. There is no state-issued license required for this role in Hawaii. Most employers on the islands, particularly federal contractors and large enterprises in Honolulu, expect candidates to hold ITIL Foundation certification and demonstrate progressive leadership experience before moving into management.
How much do technical support managers make in Hawaii?
Technical support managers in Hawaii earn a median of about $141,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $103,200 for the lowest 10% to over $229,880 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical support managers in Hawaii?
Employers hiring technical support managers in Hawaii right now include CVS Health, County of Hawaii, and Booz Allen Hamilton, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's defense and federal contractor sector, along with large telecommunications and hospitality technology operations based primarily in Honolulu, consistently generate the most consistent demand for this role.
Which Hawaii cities have the most technical support manager jobs?
Honolulu, Hilo, and Kauai have the most technical support manager openings in Hawaii. Honolulu drives the largest share by a wide margin, anchored by its concentration of federal agencies, defense contractors, and major enterprise headquarters, while Kapolei and Hilo contribute openings through state government technology offices and regional utility and healthcare operations.
Are there remote technical support manager jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than many management roles, since the coordination and oversight work of a technical support manager can often be done remotely when the team uses cloud-based ticketing and monitoring tools. About 0% of technical support manager openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting employer flexibility for experienced candidates. Roles supporting mainland clients or national enterprise accounts tend to offer the most remote scheduling flexibility.
How can I get hired as a technical support manager in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a tier-two technical support specialist or systems administrator role within a Hawaii employer rather than applying directly to manager openings. Large IT operations at University of Hawaii, Hawaii Pacific Health, and major federal contractor sites in Honolulu regularly promote from within. Earning an ITIL Foundation certification and taking on informal team lead responsibilities, such as onboarding new technicians or owning escalation queues, builds the credentials Hawaii hiring managers look for when filling their first management vacancy.
Where can I find and apply to technical support manager jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to technical support manager jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current Hawaii openings updated regularly. Search the listings to identify roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
