JOB SUMMARY
Leads all transportation and delivery operations within a distribution center, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of products. Oversees delivery teams, fleet operations, routing, and performance management while driving operational excellence and compliance with internal policies, safety standards, and Department of Transportation regulations.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Leads delivery operations, including route planning, dispatching, and daily performance monitoring.
- Manages staffing, labor planning, and KPI tracking to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery operations.
- Oversees fleet maintenance, vehicle inspections, asset management, and compliance with safety and regulatory vehicle inspection requirements.
- Develops and coaches delivery teams through training, ride-alongs, and performance management.
- Monitors driver safety programs, incident reviews, and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.
- Resolves operational issues, process exceptions, and customer delivery concerns.
- Supports project initiatives, including capacity management, market optimization, and system troubleshooting.
- Communicates performance feedback, engagement actions, and recognition programs to drivers and leadership.
NATURE AND SCOPE
- Solutions require analysis and investigation.
- Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
- Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing transportation or delivery operations within a distribution center or warehouse.
- Knowledge of fleet management, route optimization, and Department of Transportation regulations.
PAY RANGE
$101,400.00-$152,500.00 Annual
