Travel Nurse RN Jobs in Maine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a travel nurse rn in Maine?
You become a travel nurse rn in Maine by holding an active RN license issued by the Maine State Board of Nursing or a Nurse Licensure Compact license from an eligible state. The path starts with completing an accredited associate or bachelor's degree in nursing, passing the NCLEX-RN, and then applying for Maine licensure. Most Maine hospital systems expect at least one year of clinical experience in your specialty before hiring you into a travel assignment.
How much do travel nurse RNs make in Maine?

Which companies hire travel nurse rns in Maine?
Maine travel nurse rn roles are posted by Voyage Health, American Traveler, and Healthforce and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. MaineHealth and Northern Light Health are the largest integrated systems in the state, with facilities extending from Portland and Bangor into rural communities that frequently rely on travel nurses to fill gaps.
Which Maine cities have the most travel nurse rn jobs?
Calais, Portland, and York are the Maine cities with the most travel nurse rn openings. Portland leads because it is home to Maine Medical Center and the MaineHealth flagship campus, while Bangor draws volume from Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, and Lewiston supports steady hiring through Central Maine Medical Center serving the Androscoggin Valley population.
How can I get hired as a travel nurse rn in Maine with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to a nurse residency or new-graduate transition program at a large Maine health system. MaineHealth and Northern Light Health both run structured residency programs that accept new NCLEX-RN passers and provide supervised clinical rotations before independent practice.
